Faced with a shortage of domestic supplies, Canada during the last week or so has been inquiring for New Zealand butter, but so far no great business has developed, and in view ,of the present attitude of New Zealand exporters there docs not appear to be any prospect of extensive trade being done, in the immediate future, at any rate. Several small parcels have been sent from New Zealand by Canadian line steamers, but with the uncertainty of the exchange position commission houses do not feel prepared to enter into any big forward commitments. It is not thought likely that direct exporters will take any risk, either.
