The defence was that the complainant and his friends had been frequenting Mr. Dallimore’s meetings endeavoring to persuade people to niter their religious views. The man .struck was definitely hostile to Mr. Dallimove, and the accused got excited.
The magistrate said there was some provocation, but religious fervour was no excuse for violence, lie refused to suppress the accused’s name.
