HONORED FOE HEROISM LONDON, Nov. 2. Heroism which was responsible tor the saving of .'l7 lives when the steamer Watford was wrecked on the eoatN of Nova Scotia on September 10, was recalled here to-day whim the second officer, Mr. Herbert. Mnnl, was presented with Lloyd’s Silver Medal for life-saving, at Lloyd’s office. Sir Percy MacKinnon, chairman of Lloyd’s, told how, when the Watford was driven ashore by a llerce gale, Mr. Maul, had volunteered to swim ashore with a line and after battling with heavy seas and climbing 50ft of cliff, lmd managed to establish communication with the ship. His "conspicuous courage and endurance” resulted in the saving of t!7 live;-, declared Sir Percy.
