Heroism which was responsible tor the saving of .'l7 lives when the steamer Watford was wrecked on the eoatN of Nova Scotia on September 10, was recalled here to-day whim the second officer, Mr. Herbert. Mnnl, was presented with Lloyd’s Silver Medal for life-saving, at Lloyd’s office. Sir Percy MacKinnon, chairman of Lloyd’s, told how, when the Watford was driven ashore by a llerce gale, Mr. Maul, had volunteered to swim ashore with a line and after battling with heavy seas and climbing 50ft of cliff, lmd managed to establish communication with the ship.
