LORRY’S DRIVER’S COURAGE
THREE MEN SAVED ~PARIS, Oct. 12. A remarkable example of courage and devotion has been brought to light by the award of the gold medal for bravery to the late M. Martial Royer, a lorry driver, of Troyes. (Aube). The citation, .which appears in to-day's issue of tho Journal Offieiel, reads as follows: — “Having safely jumped out of tho burning lorry ho was driving, he unhesitatingly went back to it three times in succession to rescue three of his comrades, whom ho saved from certain death. Ho dragged out tho last man with his teeth, his hands having been practically charred by the flames. He died, the victim of his devotion, on Juno 14, 1932.”
