OPENING FOR TRAFFIC

(Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this duj-

Goods traffic on the Stratford-Main Trunk railway will commence on December 12.

This decision was reached after conferences! between the Public Works engineers and the acting-general manager of railways. It is intended to operate on through goods rates, an improvement on the lovntcv arrangements for working sections not handed over to the Railway Department, when the rates were charged separately on the old and new' sections.

There will be at least one train daily each way.

Passenger traffic is not likely to commence for a few' months as there is a. (rood deal of finishing work to be completed, and time lias to be allowed for the consolidation of the track before fust traffic is safely possible.
