AERIAL SURVEY
CENTRAL AUSTRALIA ’PLANE BOUGHT BY WIRELESS MELBOURNE, Nov. IS. Destined for the most ambitious aerial survey of Central Australia ever undertaken, a three-engined Spartan mail plane was bought over the wireless phono yesterday from its English makers by Mr. Donald Maekay, a New South Wales grazier, who is a keen airman and who organised and financed a smaller survey a few years ago which had its headquarters at Ilbilba, Central Australia. Air. F. Neale said last night he had been engaged to fly the machine to Australia and to act as engineer and pilot on the survey flight. He would leave for London next month, and would attempt a record flight to Australia in 4>\ days. Commander H. Bennett, who was a member of the Ilbilba expedition, had been engaged as navigator on the Australian trip, and Dir. 11. K. Love would be the wireless'operator. .Captain Neale said he would fly the plane solo from England. The survey trip would again be financed by Mr. Maekay.
