FIREPROOF TREES PLANTED
A State forester, AH. H. A. Smith, has obtained a pound of red alder seed, which he hns planted in the State Forest Nursery at Camden, South Carolina.
He expects to produce 50,000 plants from the seed, and he plans to distribute the trees throughout the State. The trees, he says, arc impervious to fire in their natural state, and will go far towards checking forest fires once they have started. The Dees are expected to mature in four or live years.
