DAIRY PRODUCE MARKETS REACTION TAKES PLACE A slight reaction has taken place in the London butter market after the first sudden rise in Values at the beginning of the week. The prices for New Zealand butter increased by 6s per cwt. from the lowest level, but to-day’s advice shows that finest lost 2s of the advantage it gained early in the week and that first grade went back Is. However, quotations made available to-day are still 4s and 5s per cwt. above the lowest point reached towards the close of last week’s business. Cheese continues to be very scarce, with colored now unavailable. .Joseph Nathan and Company report to-day as follows:—“Butter, finest 90s, first grade 89s; the market is quiet with sellers pressing for orders. Cheese, white is selling at 63s and is very scarce, on spot, while the colored market is clear.” The rise which occurred in the butter market early this week was apparently anticipated by both buyers and dairy factory directors. When prices had fallen to 85s, with no sign of an improvement, offers of 9£d per lb, f.o.b.equal to about 90s per lb on the London market, were, received by several Taranaki factories. No announcement has been made of any factory accepting tho offers. Auckland advice states that f.o.b. offers went up to 9|(l per lb at the end of last year. GOLD AND STERLING (Received Nov. 30, noon.) LONDON, Nov. 29. The price of gold to-day is quoted at £6 9s 3Jd. Sterling on Ne.w York is 31&i seats.
