POLICY CRITICISED
COALITION GOVERNMENT MR. ATMORE’S VIEWS When speaking in Palmerston North on the present economic situation, Mr. H. Atmore, M.P., levelled some criticism at recent legislation passed in this respect. Mr. Atmore advocated the establishment of a system of State credit as a means of overcoming the present scourges of unemployment, over-produc-tion, and under-consumption. Mr. Atmore strongly criticised the policy of the Coalition Government, and said ho predicted that tho Government despite any measures that it passed to extend the term of its life, would not last out the term. Public indignation would eventually win out. Tho following motions were canned unanimously: “That this meeting is of opinion that monetary reform is of the utmost importance, and that the immediate arrest of progressive deflation is a condition precedent to a restoration of national prosperity, and that no other measures can function as efficient substitutes.” “That this meeting draws the attention of the Government to the grave menace to New Zealand and Empire shipping existing in the subsidised Matson Line, and calls on the Government to take steps to protect our Mercantile Marino, ’ ’
