Search parties of police and civilians Were formed yesterday and effected the capture of Morton, the leader of the pair, who had. a knowledge .of tho district, and this morning almost every settler in the Waimana district joined in the-man-hunt for Clayton. Apparently Clayton doubled across the river during the night, and his trail was picked up at about noon. He was finally run to earth in the Waimana township itself, the chase continuing until Clayton gave up through exhaustion. Tho prisoner was finally taken by Constable Breed, of. Opoti&i . Graham. Wilfred Morton, 21, and Arthur Albert Clayton, 20, both, with convictions "or breaking, entering and theft, escaped from the Borstal institution at Waikerm on Saturday afternoon. It is understood that they will now be charged at W'hakatane on two further counts of breaking and entering, as the result of tbe discovery yesterday that a roadman’s hut and a settler’s houso in the Waimana Gorge, had been broken into; and that they will also he charged with unlawfully converting, to their own use a motor-Car and a motor-van.
