CLAIM FOR £SOOO “PLAYING WITH THE COURT’’ (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Remarking that lie had a suspicion that the plaintiff was playing with the court, Mr Justice Herd mail to-dav refused to grant an adjournnlent of tho action brought by Harry Clinton McEhvain, n company manager, and a promotor of the .Speedwell Oil Company, against it. ,N. Chisholm, an accountant, E. \\ r . Lane, a farmer, Richard Arthur; engineer, and G. E. Smekdon, a jeweller. Tho plaintiff alleged malicious prosecution and claimed £SOOO damages. llis counsel, who was engaged only on Monday, was granted permission by the judge to withdraw, and the ease was struck out.
