About 3 a.m. on Sunday a pronounced earthquake was felt in Palmerston North. The ’quake was preceded by a rumbling noise and ended in a jolt. The Rev. .1. C. Hawkeswortli, formerly vica.r of Devon port, Auckland, has been inducted as the first, vicar of St. .Philip’s'Church, Upper Stratton, Wiltshire.
