FORGED SHARE TRANSFERS

Charged at the Quarter Sessions with having uttered forged share transfers, James John Ferguson was to-day sentenced to 23 months' imprisonment.
Detective-Sergeant Gallagher told Judge White that defendant owned racing ponies, and he was of opinion that losses incurred by Ferguson were connected with the racing business. Ferguson did not have ;i banking account, but carried a lnrge sum of money in his pockets. He estimated that £IO,OOO was involved in the frauds.
Replying to the counsel for the defence, tho detective said there had been complicity between defendant and another man, hut. lie could not say who was the ringleader.
