SLOW TRIP FROM JAVA WOMAN TRAVELLER’S PLANS A leisurely flight from Sourabaya, java, to Croydon, England, with frequent calls at places of interest on Lie way, has been planned bv an . enthusiastic, traveller, Miss May Spinks, of Harrogate, England, who is at present visiting Auckland. "The only record I desire to create is tliaT for tho slowest flight," Miks Spinlcs said. “I have chosen Ihe most comfortable way of travelling' to the most uncomfortable countries, and intend to take four months over the flight, arriving at Croydon ,on J uiy 28." . ..

The flight is being made purely for pleasure, and on that account Miss Spinks has planned an itinerary that will enable her to visit sonic of the most fascinating spots in the world. The trip should not prove arduous, as the aviators will bo able to choose their, own times of departure from the various places visited, and will not be influenced by the possible loss of a coveted record to fly when conditions arc unfavorable.

The machine will be shipped from Brisbane to Sourabaya, from where the flight will commence. The first. Imp will be to Penang, and from there the flyers will continue to Bangkok and Rangoon, where a sufficiently long wait will be made to enable Miss Spinks to see Mandalay. MANY POINTS OP INTEREST.

'The next stage of the journey will take the machine to Calcutta, after which calls will bo made at Allahabad, J'odpur and Jhansi, where the trip will bo broken to permit of a visit to Agra. Karachi will be the next town visited, the trip being continued to Basra and Bagdad. After visits to Ur of the Chaldees and Nineveh, the machine will be headed for Aleppo, and from there the route will lie through Constantinople, Sofia, Budapest, Veinna aud Paris to Loudon. Tho Shell Company is arranging for supplies of oil anil fuel along the route.

The flight from Sourabaya to England will not be Miss Spinks’ first experience of long-distance flying. Since last February, when she went to Australia from South Africa, she has done over 100 hours in the air as passenger. Last September she flew with Mr. Cameron across Central Australia from Brisbane to Darwin and back. The total distance covered was 5000 miles.

A keen interest in architecture and archaeology has taken Miss Spinks into many strange countries among foreign people in past years.
