200 MOTORS ARRIVE
PROGRESS OF BRITISH TRADE
Referring to the fact that the heavy loss on tho conversion of tlm British pound into dollars hud had a stimulating effect on the export of British motor ears to New Zealand, Sit Harold Beauchamp, who reached Wellington in the Rangltune this week, mentioned that the ,*hip carried 200 English cars for the New Zealand market. "I understand that the position of die British motor export trade as far as New Zealand is concerned is almost a complete reversal of that obtaining before Britain went off the gold standard ” Sir Harold Beauchamp said. •‘Formerly from 85 to 00 per cent, of the cars that came to New Zealand were of United Slates manufacture, but Britain has now taken pride of place. "With a view to retaining this place British motor manufacturers are showing a very earnest desire to cater for New Zealand requirements.”
