BEACH POPULARITY
THE NEW SEASON FIRST CAMPERS ARRIVE Moans by which the Waikanae Beach will be further popularised were, discussed av a mooting last night, Air A. J. Nieol prodding over a large attendance. The committee noted with pleasure that campers already 'had oi ! - cupied the motor camping sites, and it was believed that the facilities would be extensively availed of throughout the season.
If war mentioned that all three bands were anxious to offer their services in playing at the beach on evenings during flic week and also on Sundays. Some evening concerts had been'given already this summer, and the committee appreciated the efforts of the bands.
Charges for the tennis courts were considered, and it was decided, in order to encourage regular patrons, to issue concessions tickets for 12 games at 3s, the present charge for one game to remain unaltered.
As a further means of popularising the beach, it was decided to communicate with school committees throughout the district informing them of the facilities provided for camping, bathing, and tennis, and also to point out its. special suitability for country residents.
