USE OF WOOL
ROAD-MAKING TESTS MOREL (N.S.W.), Nov. 14. In order to conduct expei'.mcnts with the use of wool in roadmaking, Hie Transport. Board nt Tannvortli has purchased a quantity of inferior wool for use on the (inruh-'B'oonii road. Mr R. W. Down, divisional engineer, who is .conducting the experiments, states that the hoard has had no experience in the use of wool in road work, hut experiences in the use of cat ton in America seemed to indicate that wool would make good binding for roads, would reduce maintenance costs, and would probably eliminate corrugations. The wool was purchased from local graziers at 2d a lb., which is a hotter ■price than would be received from the Sydney sales after freight, commission, and other charges had been deducted. The expo.intents are being watched with keen interest by local graziers, as a ready market for thousand of bales of inferior wool will be created if the tests are successful.
