THROWN INTO RIVER
OXFORD LITERARY MAN LONDON, Nov. 14. Annoyed by the novel, “Storm in Oxford,” dealing with controversial aspects of University life, Oxford undergraduates threw the author, Mr. Tangye Lean, editor of “Isis,” into the. River Cher-, well. Mr. Lean stated later that a dozen men confronted him shouting: “You are a swine. You wrote ‘Storm in Oxford.’ It is a disgusting insult.” “I was overpowered, thrown into the river, and swam ashore,” added Mr. Lean, lie added that his rooms were often wrecked, and ho. had received anonymous letters threatening violence as a result of the novel.
