PATUTAHI NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) On Tuesday evening a number of friends met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. FI Kilmers, Patutahi, when the guest of honor was Mr. John ihodey, who leaves for England on Friday. A most enjoyable time resulted, the younger members indulging in dancing in the break fast-room, which was gay with queen poppies and red ash foliage, while those who preferred less strenuous enjoyment took part in a Hag fivehundred tournament in the drawingmum, which was adorned with roses and arum lilies. The winners were Mrs. ■Ritchie, (Mias Picken, Mr. Ellmers and Mr. M. Tliodey. A dainty supper was dispensed. During the evening Mr. J. B. Clarke presented Die guest _ with a gold-mounted fountain pen, wishing him bou voyage and every success in the pursuit of Ins studies. Mr. Ellmers also spoke in glowing terms of Mr. Tliodey’s talents, which augured well for a successful future in the Homeland. _ After returning thanks, Mr. Tliodey, in response to a universal request, delighted the assembled company with the Sear. Truibhais. Those present included : Mr. and Mrs. O. Thodev, Mil*, and Mrs. Morrison, Air. and Airs. ,1. B. Clarke, Mr. and Mrs. T. Peel, Mr. and Mrs. C. Cusack, Mr. and Airs. J. East; Mesdames (T.
