Public interest lias been aroused in the case of 2L White Russians who escaped from detention camps on the coast of a maritime province in small fishing boats and landed at Hokkaido aftei great hardships. Eventually the'prisoners were shipped in a Soviet steamer to Vladivostok. The Hokkaido authorities were shocked on hearing that the deportees are to be shot on arrival in Soviet territory.
