McKean, S.M. coroner, at the inquest in Aucklanc concerning the death of Alfred Geoigi Aldeiton, 37, who was fatally injurec on November 6, when the motor-cycle which he was riding in Sandringharr road, Mount Albert, collided with r motor car. The driver of the car, W. K. Vickery, a minister of the Ohurch of Christ, gave evidence that the accident occurred at about 1 p.m. on November 6. After stopping his motor car in Sandringham load, just opposite Taumata. road, witness commenced to turn the car. He had completed about sft. of the turn acro9s the road when he heard someone call out that a cyclist was approaching. Witness stopped the car, which was travelling very slowly, and a moment later deceased*'s cycle crashed into it. Before starting to turn his car witness signalled with his hand and took the usual precautions. Evidence was given by eye-witnesses to the accident that they did not hear deceased sound the horn on his cycle. It was a windy day and deceased was riding into the wind with his head down. He did not appear to see the car. In returning a verdict of accidental death, the coroner said that from the evidence it seemed that deceased was not looking ahead at the time the car started to turn. As far as Mr. Vickery was concerned it could not be suggested that he was negligent in any way.
