FALSE ADVERTISEMENTS
PROTECTING THE PUBLIC MELBOURNE, Nov. 23. The Legislative Council pissed a bill providing heavy penalties for printing and publishing false advertisements, or displaying them on any kind of hoarding or building. The bill safeguards newspaper proprietors. It also provides that private persons cannot launch prosecutions without the consent of law officers.
