Mr. Winston Churchill, referring to the Disarmament Conference in the House of Commons, said that though we desired to live on good terms with Germany, it- should be remembered that every post-war concession to Germany was'followed by a fresh demand. “Do not let the Government delude itself,” be said, “that Germany is merely seeking equality of status. , All the marching bauds of Germany s youth were wanting weapons, and when they got them they will seek the restoration of territories and colonies, which would shako France and her associates to the foundations. “We, with our wide Imperial burdens, ought to be careful not to meddle imprudently in the European structure, or we might bring about a. catastrophe that everyone desired to avert.
