NAVAL MEN MISSING
SLOOP IN A GALE FEARS FOR THEIR SAFETY LONDON, Oct. 23. Anxiety is felt for the safety of three young naval officers —McMullin, Keys and Glatland—-who were caught in ii severe Channel gale while returning to Portsmouth from Havre in a 16ft. sloop, the Little Owl. The vessel was in company with another small yacht, the Wallop, sailed by three other officers, including Pav-master-Lieut. McMullin, a brother of one of the missing men. After encountering terrific seas, the officers on the Wallop, who had previously lost contact with the Little Owl, were picked up in an exhausted condition off pelsey Bill by the steamer Mary Glen. Shortly 'after their rescue, the gale reached a velocity of 70 miles per hour. It is considered that, the only hope for the missing men is that they may have been picked up by a passing vessel not equipped with wireless.
