Tlio market, for maize is steady, states the Auckland Herald, with a firming tendency,- holders being disinclined to accept readily the prices offered. It does not seem-likely that there will he any further shipments of crushed maize from South Africa this year, owing to tho difficulty in arranging full freight. The present - price is 5s 3d a bushel through store. The bulk of the business is being done by direct rail from the Bay of Plenty, the wholesale buying price being 4s a bushel. A good demand continues for seed-maize, there being ample stocks in the meantime to meet all require--1 incuts. -
