POVERTY BAY CLTJB The keenness of the games was a feamro of the play on the Poverty Bay Fowling Club’s green on Saturday afterneon. One match in particular, the challenge pairs, was a fight to the last howl, Smith and Mac Gibbon (s), the holders, narrowly defeating Slight ana Hickman (s), the challengers. Following are the results:- — —Ferns— Holders, Smith and Mac Gibbon s) 22 v Challengers, Slight and Hickman (s) —Ordinary Games— Robinson, Roberts and McKeague (s) 20 v. Brian, Ashworth and Blackburn Leach, Shaw, Jennings and Somervell (a) 20 v. Ferguson, Andrew, Greig and llopkinson (s) 18. Hughes, Hilton and Cameron (s) 16 v Ludwig, Ritchie and Moore (s) 18. GISBORNE CLUB There was a good muster of bowlers on the Gisborne Bowling Club’s green on Saturday afternoon, when a number oi closely-contested games were played. Results: D. Parker, Munro, J. Hay and Sutton ( S ) 20 v. DeCosta, C. F. Smith, McCul r lough, and Bright (s) 16. Jones, R. Johnson and Fngebretsen (s) 20 v. Pyke, Thornton and W. Smith (s) 14 York, G. Henderson and Holmes (s) 21 v. Shaw, Zachariah and Beckett (s) 18. A. Park. Chrisp and T. F. Crawford is) 20 v. Neal, Hammond and Robertson (s) 19. Clark, J. Park and 11. Bright (s) 20 v. Balfour, Zaffer and Maude (s) 19. The last two games resulted in a draw, an extra head being played in each instance. The following active members wero (fleeted during the afternoon: Messrs. R. Dobson, N. H. Bull, F. H. G. Galvin, and D. K. Youi\g. Mesdames Sinclair, Stephenson and H. IT.
