DULWICH TENNIS TOURNEY NEW ZEALANDER’S SUCCESS (Eloc. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received October 24, 2 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 23. Malfroy (New Zealand) defeated llilchic (Britain), 6—4, 6—4, 2—6, 7—5, in t.!ie final of the Dulwich covered court tournament. Malfroy and Ritchie were defeated in the doubles final by Lee and Miki, 6—2, 2—6, B—6, I—6, 6—2. Malfroy also lost the mixed final. Mr. Wallis Mvers, in the Daily Telegraph, describes Malfroy and Ritchie as two of the year’s most improved players. France, Australia, South Africa, and Rumania all won Dulwich titles. This is New Zealand's first success. Malfroy, figuring in all finals, played 121 games in one afternoon, a feat which Mr. Myers highly praises. ITe states that Malfrov’s serving and volleying are almost Tildenesque. WELLINGTON RACES (Pur Press Association.) TRENTHAM, Ibis day. The Wellington Racing-Club’s spring meeting concluded to-day in steady rain. The track was heavy, and the attendance fair. Rona Hurdles Handicap.—2 l’ahu, 1; -1 Jayson, 2; 6 Kimbo, 3. Scratched: Arrowzoue. Won by a head, ami three lengths. Time, 2.524. Spring Trial Stakes. —2 Minstrel Lad, 1 ; 5 Aesculus, 2; 9 Copper King, 3. All started. Won by three-quarters of a le. gth, and half a length. Time, 1.321,. WAIKATO HUNT MEETING (Ter Press Association.) HAMILTON, this day. The Waikato Hunt Club’s meeting was held to-day in wet weather, and with a fair attendance. The rack is heavy. Farmers’ Steeplechase.—7 Little Arch, 1; 8 Tronic, 2;, 5 Koewhiwhi, 3. Scratched : Galapago and Red Rose. Won by four lengths, and six lengths. Time, 5.7 2-5. WAVERLEY MEETING (Per Press Association.) W AVER LEY, this day. Unfavorable conditions prevail for the races. Bain fell overnight, and it was still drizzling when the first event started. The going, naturally, is heavy. There is a fair attendance under the circumstances.
