A. | Hack’s (Gisborne) Collette of Leehaven, and amongst other clever acts of obedience and intelligence were the followjiug: i Airs. Black obtained several handkerchiefs from amongst the spectators and placed these together with one of her own at a certain spot. The dog was then ordered to bring Mrs. Black’s handkerchief. After nosing each handkerchief lie selected the correct handkerchief and 'brought it to his mistress. | Another test was to lie down and remain in that 1 position until ordered to rise. Mrs. Black then left that part of the ground, returning about five minutes later, but the dog arose only when ordered to do. so. A third test was to lift a piece of fiat metal from the ground, which clogs do not like doing, and to do which ho had to scratch away the earth to enable him ti. grip the iron. The whole test was a very interesting one, and showed what can be done in Gaining these dogs.
