UNEMPLOYED RELIEF
BRITISH MEANS TEST POSSIBLE CONCESSIONS (Received October 24, 11 a.m.) . LONDON, Oct. 24. In reference to the Government’s intention to remove the complaint.that the means test imposed before certain unemployed persons are granted relief penalises thrift, the Daily Express states that the authorities probably will not count as means war and other pensions up to Cl a week, small property and workmen’s compensations awards up to £SOO. It is stated that some of the unemployed have been forced to sell their houses at a great loss before being granted relief.
