NON-PARTY POLITICS SYDNEY, March 23. Strong condemnation of the present political party system was made at a largely attended public meeting, called by the Mayor of Bathurst, to discuss the formation of a non-party machine, embracing elective M inistries, the initiative, referendum; and recall.
Major Retchford said that it was not the desire of the citizens of New South Wales that their children should be educated in an atmosphere of artificially stimulated dogs chanting artificial hares. “Is it the aspiration of decent people in this community to become, the possessor of a winning ixickct in a lottery he asked.
It was decided thiat the Mayor, the presidents of both Labor Leagues, the Nationalist Party, the A.F.A., and the Country Party, be invited to form a sub-committee, to draw up a memorandum, setting out the arguments in support of a non-party system.
