“FRIEND-IN-NEED” SOCIETY TO THE RESCUE CAPETOWN, Sept. 10. Farmers in the northern Transvaal district have joined together to help their destitute neighbors whose farms have been confiscated by the authorities for debts inc'urred through the economic depression. The farmers are buying the debteonfiscaed farms at auction, for ridiculously low sums, and then handing them back to the original owners. In one sale, which took place Jo-day, horses were knocked down for 10s eaqh, and a whole crop of grain was sold*for one guinea. Half of the crop, with the rest of the farm, was given back to the original owner.
