MEN TAKEN OFF DOLE
SHEFFIELD, Sept. 16. . | An illuminating insight on what happens to those who “lose the dole, ’ or, in other words, are disallowed further unemployment benefits, was alfordcl to-day. Investigation on behalf of the Royal Commission on Unemployment disclosed &00 such cases. Only 19 of those losing the dole subsequently applied for poorlaw relief. Thirty per cent, of the remainder of the 400 found work. The remainder were found to he kept by their families, although it was discovered that half of the latter were living definitely bolow a reasonable standard.
