SIMONSEN BEATS RICHARDSON (Per Press Association.) BLENHEIM, last night. Jimmy Simonson (Blenheim) on making' his first professional appearance,'took a points decision-over Fred Richardson (Wellington), in a 10rounds lightweight boxing contest. It Was not a spectacular encounter, but was characterised by clever boxing, Richardson, in particular, display-ing-considerable defensive 1 skill. Simonson made the fighting most of the journey, his opponent attacking too spasmodically to re-take the points deficiency on the early rounds. -The‘reception given the verdict; was mixed. 1 «
