OBITUARY
MR: ALFRED ECKHOLD (Per Press-Association.) DUNEDIN; this day. : The death occurred to-day of Mr. Alfred Bckhold, 46, the former 1 Otiigo 'halfback, All Black back, and a .wellknown referee. : A very old arid 'highly-esteemed resident of Napier for many years, in tlie person of Mr. David Smart, passed away at the Auckland Hospital. The late Mr. D.’ Smart was 1 for some years assistant master at the Napier Technical School. Mr. Percy Cecil Hjorring, a wellknown barrister of Oamaru, aged hi, was found dead, seated in a chair at his home on Thursday evening, death being due to heart failure. He is survived by a widow. Their only son, Ids legal partner, died a few months ago, and 1 Mr. Hjorring never recovered from the shock. Mr. Hjorring was uri outstandirig authority on mining law, and was an advocate of exceptional ability. The death 1 occurred at Wellington of ‘Mrs Lucy Anna Butts, widow of the late Lieutenant-Colonel Butts, 18th Royal Irish Regiment', and daughter of ’the late Major and Mrs Nixon, of Sedgwick estate, Wanganui. Sho was born at Stoke, Nelson, 80 years ago, her family removing soon afterward to Wanganui, whore they took up their wellknown estate.
