WRESTLING'AT THE SHOW Tuesday next will be the opening day of the Poverty' Bay Show, an'important annual event looked forward to by all classes,-of 1 all ages. It is at the Show the visitor sees all the best of the Dominion’s products, from the prize bull down to the toy aeroplane. Also the visitor may be entertained in the amusement section. Ever prominent in tlie latter part of the, showground' will lie jseeu Afrikander Mcekin’s troupe of international wrestlers,-headed 1 by* Anton Koolman, the ■ Esthoniau wrestler and middleweight champion of the (Southern hemisphere. Since Koohnan’s first appearance in Gisborne 12 months ago he has toured! tlie Dominion, challenging ‘and wrestling all-comers, irrespective of Weighty and for tlie past few weeks has been engaged at a good salary as instructor' to the New Zealand School of J Wrestling in Wellington. Recently Kool- - man, though only a welterweight, deciJ surely defeated the’ heavyweight. Bill j Bayne, at tlie Town ILi.ll, Wellington, ■h in th'rete rounds, arid later drew ;with heavyweight' Alex Lundyii. 1 % impressed ! is Torii 1 Alley, champion a wrestler-, with Koolman’s ability as a )! grappler, that he is in communication ’■ with a prominent American wrestling promoter with a ; view to securing a i! series of contests there on behalf of (> the littlo Esthonian; arid to use his j (Alley’s) own words, “That little fellow will certainly make himself a whole | bunch of dollars in tlie States.” j The usual challenges will bo issued i on behalf of Koolinan throughout the j show—£lo for any man of liis weight whom Koolman fails to defeat in one 10j minute round of wrestling.
