DAILY SERVICE
EMPIRE BROADCASTING MONEY IS OBSTACLE LONDON, Oct. 14. Tho British Cloverwnent is ready to inaugurate a daily Empire broadcasting service, on the lines discussed l at the Imperial Conference, as soon as funds are available. At present there is little hope of the Dominions contributing towards the scheme, and the initial expenditure is beyond the means of Britain, but the question will bo reopened, probably after tho election. Proposals envisage three programmes daily, covering the whole Empire, the various parts listening jn to at least one program'me, according to their geographical situation and the atmospheric conditions. It was proposed that Australia should tune in to the same programme as India, hut India's closing down of its hioadcasting. owing to economy plans, mav necessitate an alteration. lixporivnents in broadcasting from a wax cylinder, similar to gramophone records, were most successful, though costv.
