FINAL TALLY OF 2345 HORSES AND SHEEP A RECORD The final tally made of the entries for next week’s A. and P. Show at Makaraka gives a total of 2343, just 400 more than last year, and less than 200 short of the record created in 1029. When the total was first announced It was indicated that the 2000 mark had been exceeded. Since then, however, the secretary, Mr. AV. E. Chamberlain, lias received a number of entries that were still in the post at the time, and with these, together with a number of late entries, the total has been increased by over 300, A feature of thin year’s entries is that the total of the horse; sheep and cattle sections comprise a record for these types of exhibits, the tally exceeding even that of the Jubilee Show. The cattle total of 190 was exceeded on one past occasion, 1921, when 205 were received, but records of the past 12 years do not show any bettor figures for horses and sheep than those announced this year. The main decline from the record year is in competitions, but this year’s total is better than of last year. Dogs are better than in 1929, but fewer than last, year, while produce exlhbPs show a great increase from last year, although a small decline from the preceding show. Poultry exhibits are, smaller than either of the preceding two years. • j■; The entries are summarised as follows, with those of the preceding two years also shown for comparison:—
