PROMPT MEASURES
THE MADEIRA REVOLT STATE OF WAR DECLARED (Elec. T<*l. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received April 8, 11 n.m.) LISBON, April 7. An official declaration of a state of war following the revolt in Madeira was speedily followed by the despatch of thousands of troops aboard the Pedro Gomez, from which they disembarked under cover of the guns of the cruiser. Another steamer carries artillery and four aeroplanes, and also the new Governor; Ken or Hordes, who demands the surrender of the rebels.
