DEAD FIANCE’S TITLE TAKEN LONDON. Feb. 35. Last., night's London Gazette an-' nouneed that the King has granted to Dorothy Ethel Green, sometime of Thorn-j bridge Hall, Derby, spinster, bis Royal ! license and authority that, she may take and henceforth use. the surnames of Marples in lieu of that of Green, and that she may hear the arms, badge and Uiollq of Marples in Jicu ol her own family arms. Mr. George Jobson Marples, of Thornbridgo Hall, Derbyshire, an elderly barrister, died on (,'lmstmas Eve, 1929, at tlie ago of 84, shortly after Ids engagement. to Miss Green was announced, lie lei I, her the hull; id his fortune of £49,160, with net personality £13,100, HR trust, so long as she remained a spinster, and on condition that, within a year from becoming entitled to tho property, she should take and assume the surname and arms, badge and motto ol the family ol Marples. In an interview last August Miss Green said that she was 42 and had been engaged to Mr. Marples for live years. She. also said that she had no intention of marrying.
