NEW MELBOURNE WORKS
MELBOURNE, March 26. It was announced to-day that the Vacuum Oil Co. had decided to erect at Fishermen's Bend, Port Melbourne, a huso modern plant for the refining of petroleum. The refined spirit will be distributed to all parts of Australia Under the contract and conditions of sale of the area of Crown land, which the company has chosen, the company undertakes to expend in preparing the site and erecting the builduig and plant, approximately £855,000, of which £554.000 will be spent within nine months from the time Parliament passes the bill ratifying the sale.
