Gar Wood set a new world’s speed boat average, his two-way speed being 100.6 miles an hour over a measured mile course at Indian Creek, with Aliss America IX. World .Hater set a faster record of 101.154 miles an hour, the average of two runs. The record was previously created by the late Sir Henry Segrave in Aliss England 11, on the' occasion when he so tragically lost his life. The speed then attained* was 98.6 miles an hour.
