MATE'S GALLANTRY

WRECK OF THE HERA DIFFICULT SWIM TO SHORE (Klee. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received March 21, 11 n.m.) OSLO, March 20. Further details received here of the wreck of the Hera show that the second mate, whose gallantry resulted in saving 66 lives, was twice beaten back in his attempt to reach the shore with a life lino. A young girl swain 100 yards in a boiling sea mid saved herself. A five-year-old girl was swept from her father's arms and drowned, leaving a tiny shoe in his hand. The passengers were asleep when the Hera grounded.
