BREAKING AND ENTERING
TWO MEN SENTENCED Wilfred Lloyd Butterill and Erie Lawrence Brown, who pleaded guilty to breaking, entering and theft from a shop and dwelling in Gisborne, were sentenced by Mr. Justice MacGregor in tho Supreme Court to-day. Butterill was sentenced to the Borstall Inst kite for two years, and Brown was given six months’ imprisonment. Mr. lies, for the accused, said they came to Gisborne in search of work. They had been employed at one time in raring stables, and then became unemployed. They admitted the crime promptly to the. police, and had already spent two months in prison. Brown was 26 and Butterill 19. Neither had been previously convicted.
Tho Grown Prosecutor, Mr. I l '. W. Nolan, said that. Brown was inclined to bo a hoodlum, and people were, not anxious to employ him.. Butterill Was described as a lazy young waster, who did not desire work.
His Honor said the probation officer did not recommend probation. Brown was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, while Ills Honor decided to send Butterill to (Borstall for two years.
