S. Williams, M.P., and Mr. 1, Corson, of Gisborne, a member of the Dominion council of the Reform League, and the outcome was the decision of a number of members to.pay a visit of inspection to the line, as announced in,yesterday's Herald. At a m.(M\tiiitr of the Reform League executive in Wellington on Saturday Mr. Williams raised the question of the Gisborne railway, and after explaining the seriousness of the situation to this district, he appealed to the Reform members for their support. Mr, Williams' appeal was endorsed by Mr. Corson, and members of the league listened to their representations with enthusiasm, intimating that they were anxious to visit the line of railway to acquaint themselves with the st.itc of affairs, Mr. Williams extended an invitation to LhbtU' members also, and in that quarter, too, he succeeded in arousing aciivo in'tcrest. with the result that, the party will [irobably ine I Itde, several •members of Hint party. Advice of the decision to visit Gisborne was received by Mr. Corson from Mr. Williams yesterday, it being intimated that the Reform and Labor members probably would leave Wellington next Wednesday morning, and after inspecting the line of railway, arrive \n Gisborne on Thursday night. The personnel of the party is not yet definitely .known, but it is probable that amongst the Reform members will be Messrs. C. E. Macmillian (Taurangaj, 11. Holland (Christchureh North), J. A. Voting (Hamilton), H. G. Dickie (Patea), G. R. Skyea (Masterton), R. A. Wright (Wellington Suburbs), and H. s. s, Kyle (Ricearton). Messrs. A. Hamilton (Wallace), ami Pi Waito (( lntha), amongst others, may join the party, but if that is not, possible, it is understood, they will pay a visit at a later date, with sonic of the other South Island Reform members. Labor members mentioned as likely to be included in the parly are Messrs. P. Fraser (Wellington Central), R. Somple (Wellington Last), E. J. Howard (Christchureh South), and M. J. Savage (Auckland West). PUBLIC ACTION ' TO-NIGHT'S MEETING . A large attendance of the public is desired, and is anticipated, at the second public meeting to be held at 8 o'clock this evening in the City Hall, to enable public, expression of opinion in matters in connection with the step taken by the Government in the closing of const ruction works. The meeting hns been convened to enable members of tin; delegation from the Gisborne railway committee which waited upon Cabinet members to report to the public upon their reception and upon the replies of Iho Minister. Plans for future action will be discussed, and the committee will disclose its proposals in connection with the deputation to wait upon the Prime Minister.
