Robertson, S. Reeves, R. Nicholson, J. Jennings, B. Ogg, and G. 0. Clifton. , , „ Wellington won tho toss and put Poverty Bay in to bat, G. J. Robertson and Nicholson opening against the bowling of Fortune from the sea end, and Brown. Robertson scored a single off the last ball of Fortune’s over, and Nicholson then faced the bowling, hitting Brown’s first ball for four. At noon Robertson had scored live singles arid Nicholson two twos and two fours, the score at this stage boing 17 for the loss of no wickets. The fielding was sharp, and the runs came fairly slowly. The umpires wore Messrs. T. Sharp and P. Martin, while Air. Lord was at his usual post in charge of the score hoard.
