Afr. Colin Lowndes, Gisborne, has received advice of Ids success in completing his examinations for the teachers’ B certificate. It was announced in Ottawa yesterday that Lord and Lady Willitigdon will sail for England on January 10.—A. & N.Z.O.A. Advice has been received that, three Gisborne students tit Canterbury College, Messrs, T. T. Turbitt, E. B. (t. Badham, and G. IT. Alills, passed in history, stage 1, and French, stage !, for B.A. degree at the recent examinations, while another 'Gisborne student, Mr. W. it. N. Tier, passed ill history, stage I, for tho same degree.

Passing though Wellington on the Alakura fot San Francisco this week was Mr. T. D. Weldon, a Rhodes Travelling Fellow, who is proceeding to San Francisco from where he Will embark on a tour of universities in the United States. Mr. Weldon explained that lie was a kind of liaison officer between authorities administering the Rhodes Scholarships Funds and the various university colleges scattered throughout the world. He had already been through South Africa visiting-tho five constituent university colleges there. Ho went first to Capetown and then travelled to Pretoria and then down through the native territories on the eastern side. He then visited Australia, and after touring tho United States may go on to Canada. It Whs unfortunate 'that tlio New Zealand University Colleges were closed on account of the vacation.' said Mr. Weldon. That meant that he could not make his usual visits here. When not engaged in travelling, Mr. 'Weklon is a lecturer in philosophy in the University of Oxford.
