EARTHQUAKE ECHO
PACIFIC PHENOMENON HEAVY SEAS OFF CHILE (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Dee. 31, 3 p.m.) VANCOUVER, Dec. 30. A message from Coquimbo states that heavy green seas, reeking with an unnatural odor, washed the shores of northern Chile as an aftermath of what is believed to have been a great earthquake far under the Pacific. Port officials warned inhabitants against sea bathing) because an examination revealed a considerable quantity of suspended animal matter. Apparently millions of fish had been killed by shock. Although there is little wind, seas are running furiously high. Unusual heat prevailed.
