HOSPITAL CHRISTMAS
DONATIONS AMOUNT TO £42 The response to the appeal for Christmas cheer for the patients ut the Cook Hospital was well worthy of the generous reputation of Poverty Bay people. Cash donations totalled over £42, and thei’e were many contributions of toys, books, gramophone records, And a variety of other articles which proved most acceptable for distribution on Christmas morning. The children’s ward was particularly fortunate, as was appropriate, and there was no child in the institution who did not share the pleasures of t,ho sfibson. The list of contributors of cash arid gifts was as under: Toys, McGruer’s, Miss Nolan, Mesdames Bowman, O. Pickett, and Tombleson; toys and books, Mr. H. Ivenway; tins of eggs, Mrs. Redstone; lemons, Mrs. Gray; large doll, Master Jolm Breingan; sweets, Mr. Harper; records and needles, Father Doherty; gifts, Mr. S. H. Phillips; Christmas stockings, Misses Tucker; Christmas cake, tin of sweets, crackers, apples and oranges, the Chinese of Gisborne ; brushes, Mr. Ellis; handkerchiefs, Mrs. Allen; flowers and books, Mr. Monckton; balloons, Guthrie and Haddock ; sweets, Mr. O. Matthews; ale, New Zealand Breweries; soft drinks, 1). J. Barry, Ltd.; books, Manutuke Sunday school; flowers, cakes and sweets, Mrs. Margoliouth; motor wagon, and jig-saw puzzle, Mr. T. Adams; cash donations, Tolaga Bay Girl Guides (Tolaga Bay Hospital), Mr lies, “E.M.,” Mrs. Scott, Petrie’s Ltd., Mrs. IT. Williams, Mr. C. J.
