CANVASSER CHARGED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Richard George Clifton, 20. a canvasser, pleaded not guilty to-day to a L'hargo of the theft of money while- a sjervant of Cash Orders Ltd., and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. It is alleged that in statements to the police Clifton admitted stealing the office key of the strong room and' having a duplicate made, and that ho incriminated two men who he declared used the key and subsequently gave him some of the proceeds of the theft, while in a separate statement to the police he said lie alone was concerned with the theft. , Bail was allowed in the accused’s bond of ,£2OO ancl one surety of £2OO, or two of £IOO each. He was ordered to report to the police daily.
