£40,000 GIFT
WORLD’S COMMERCE COLLEGE NEW YORK, Nov. I. 7 ;. Mr. Edward N. Hurley, wartime chairman of tho United States Shipping Board, has given £40,000 to found and erect a College of .foreign and Domestic Commerce at Notre Dame University. The institution, in its teaching, will emphasise the unfettered movement, ol goods in the channels of world trade, and will educate young men in courses designed to train specialists in the theory and practice of international exchange of goods anti services. The university is planning the exchange of scholarships with British universities where similar courses are taught. . , Mr. Hurley’s foundation is partly m commemoration of the origin of 1 1 is own fortune, which was achieved by the sale in Great- Britain 31 years ago of patents on pneumatic hammers and drills.
